In 2019 we set out with a bold mission - to create Micro Drone 4.0 - a small, affordable drone under 250 grams for shooting Aerial Videography. Unfortunately, the timing could not have been worse and just as production was getting underway in January 2020, the pandemic struck, which put the entire project into a tailspin. It took three years to get things back on track at which point the market had already surpassed the original specifications and product features.
We Are Continuing with Micro Drone 4.0
We are continuing to work on 4.0 until it is ready to launch and when we are in a position to complete production of the first 8000 drones. It will be a drone for Aerial Videography. The reality is that drone technology has been evolving since announcing the original design, and we would be doing backers a disservice by producing something that isn't up to date with the current technology.
It's because of our backers
The reason we have decided to keep moving forward is because of the backers who have continued to show unwavering support throughout the challenges of this project. Following the initial delay, we were dealing with a sustained torrent of abuse, hostile commentary, and a barrage of negative reviews from a small number of individuals (some of whom were not even backers or customers). That noise did not move the project forward. The calm, informed, and supportive voices did. The support from backers is the reason we kept working, kept investing our own time and resources, and kept the mission alive when walking away would have been the easier option.
The Micro Drone 4.0 that eventually launches will be upgraded to the latest technology and backers who supported us from the original project will receive a free upgrade to this improved model.
Our plan for the road ahead
To execute our plan will require significant funding, time and effort. To make this happen we will be releasing an updated version of our smaller, best-selling Micro Drone 3.0, bringing that up to spec with a new generation of technology and product improvements. The opportunity is to make a new type of best beginner drone which is so lacking in the market today - you either have the cheap, low quality starter drones on eBay/Amazon/Temu that don't fly well and can't be repaired, or you have the expensive premium drones in excess of $400 which are not suitable for beginners (and are at risk of crashing and breaking on the first flight). We believe there will be great interest in an amazing, sub-99 gram drone, around $99 using the latest technology, which people will love and in turn help get the business back onto firm ground.
