FAQs

What is the difference between Micro Drone 3.0 and 3.0 NEO.

The original Micro Drone 3.0, launched back in 2016, was a lightweight portable quad-copter that pioneered modular design - but many users found it hard to fly and it initially received mixed reviews due to the learning curve, control difficulty and propensity to crash and break. The Micro Drone 3.0 NEO is our brand-new, fully upgraded model built from the ground up to fix those core issues. Unlike the original, the 3.0 NEO can hover in place, even without you touching the control sticks - a capability normally only seen on much more expensive autonomous drones. It includes major improvements in stability, flight control, and durable design, making it easier and more enjoyable for pilots of all skill levels.

Does Micro Drone 3.0 NEO only stream video or can it also record?

Micro Drone 3.0 NEO can both stream video to a smartphone/tablet as well as record onto an onboard Micro SD memory card.

How loud is Micro Drone 3.0 NEO in flight?

We are using high grade endurance motors which are the quietest available (the same coreless motors used for vibrating smartphones). Feedback from user testing has noted how quiet the drone is (not much louder than a whisper in flight), compared to bigger drones.

Does Micro Drone 3.0 NEO fly autonomously?

Yes! After 8 years of development and testing, the drone can fly and hover on the spot without any input from the control sticks. The flight board incorporates sensors including: IMU, barometer and visual positioning camera, that makes the drone easier to control.

Can the camera module take photos? What is the resolution of the HD camera module?

There are three cameras for the Micro Drone 3.0 NEO (with many more to come). The full HD camera module can take both photos and video through the App. The photo resolution is 1920 x 1080 pixels. The video is shot is full HD 1080p and incorporates a Sony Sensor for high quality imagery.

What formats are the video and photos?

The video records as MOV format with an H.264 codec and a frame rate of 25fps with a 1920 x 1080 pixel resolution. The photos it takes are JPEG format with a 1920 x 1080 pixel resolution.

How does Micro Drone link video with my smartphone/tablet?

The Micro Drone 3.0 NEO camera module becomes a WiFi access point that your smartphone/tablet tethers to over a secure connection. Once this connection is established our app will be able to automatically configure and display the video stream coming from the drone to your smartphone/tablet, search the App Store for our new App Micro Drone Fly .

Are replacement blades available? If so how much are they?

What is the range of Micro Drone 3.0 NEO?

The drone is flown using the dedicated professional 2.4 GHz Remote Control. With the 2.4 GHz Remote Control the range is 120m. Live streaming to your smartphone/tablet can be made up to the same distance and using an on-board SD card will record HD footage the whole time.

What happens when the battery runs low on Micro Drone 3.0 NEO?

We have designed an early warning indicator where the onboard LEDs flash rapidly when there is less than 30 seconds of remaining flight time.

Are bumper guards available for Micro Drone 3.0 NEO?

Yes, these are available from the online store here and are useful for first-time pilots.

Will it be possible to have different cameras for Micro Drone 3.0 NEO?

Yes! We designed this as a modular drone where you can choose a wide range of cameras. We are developing cameras that can be used for different purposes such as First Person View flying, Thermal imagery, Night Vision and many more other types of modules.  Camera technology is getting lighter, more advanced and users will be able to continuously upgrade the modules without having to change the Drone.
